2006 Pinot Rosé
This Rosé is also made from two different portions
of Pinot Noir grapes grown at our Lake George vineyard -
an earlier picking (lower sugar, more fragrant) with 18
hours skin contact before pressing, and the juice runoff
(Saignée) from the red ferments of grapes picked
later in the season. As well, Cabernet Franc (3%) has been
added to create a more complex wine. The wine shows rose,
spice, cherry and strawberry aromas. The palate has a good
length, and is very refreshing with a long, crisp finish.
Enjoy now, or keep for 1 to 2 years. Combines successfully
with Bouillabaisse, antipasto and pizza. Serve chilled.
A newspaper review of our 2006 Pinot Rose was done by Fergus
McGhie. The review appeared in the Canberra Times on 9 August
2006. He said:
"After
trying another cloying sweet rosé whose name I won't
mention and whose wine I will not review, the Lerida Pinot
Rosé was like a breath of fresh air. Clean, crisp
and full of bright flavours of cherries and berries, watermelon
and strawberry, it still finished light and dry. This is
the sort of rosé I love, made for food and best drunk
well chilled with gusto. Try it with bouillabaisse."
